Texas is dying
we are getting drier and drier
Another alarming title in a sea of bad news, but I believe we can change this.
Water is life, and unfortunately, it is not unlimited. Texas is running out of water, fast. A result of ever-increasing growth and unfettered economic development.
Now, all of our lives, we have been told the myth that economic growth is good. And in some ways, it is. But economic growth also carries a lot of bad with it. Overdevelopment has led to our ecosystems collapsing, droughts, and aquifers with less and less water, and eventually, we will have to come to terms with that reality.
Economic growth without long-term consideration for our own livelihoods will lead to mass refugee migrations, as Texans will one day have to move.
Goco Goes see this plain and simple. And we wish to do something about it. Our Earth Protector Initiative is created to fight against the tide. When the local and state governments continue to enforce dangerous growth policies, we need to organize together and protect the land and water.
A true Texan knows this.
Map of the designeated area we wish to restore alongside landowners, ranchers, and farmers
Our first major project will be titled the Medina River Valley Natural Protected Area. This is a visionary concept that will partner with landowners, ranchers, farmers, and Indigenous peoples to restore and protect the land we all love from development and desolation.
We need to stop San Antonio from its continuous expansion west. We hope this natural protected area will act as a buffer zone to limit development.
American Bison are known to revive biodiversity and increase deep root growth in grasslands
We plan to reintroduce buffalo and beaver into the habitat and carefully manage them in a semi-free range style so they can live as wild as possible and, through their existence, restore the habitats.
Our reasoning behind this idea is that a restored habitat will increase water retention in the soil, icnrease water absorption in the recharge zones, and increase humidity via plant transpiration, increasing the possibilty for rainfall in the region.
How?
Well, we are raising a campaign to recruit donors. We call them our Earth Protectors, and their role is fundamental in allowing us to collectively change our planet for the better.
